Name: Abby Gray
Current Position: Director, Operations
How long have you been with Prévu? 3.5 years
Where are you from? Huntsville, TX
Certifications & education: I have a BBA in Marketing from Sam Houston State University.
What do you enjoy most about what you do? That’s easy – problem solving. I love a good challenge and when a client or team member presents one, I enjoy working through the possible solutions to determine the best course of action.
What makes Prévu unique or special compared to previous work experiences? There is so much flexibility. I came from more of a 9-to-5 job where I wore a suit and high-heels every day. Now I can work from home and every day can be completely different from the day before.
What do you feel is the most important aspect of your job? Keeping the ball rolling. We constantly have something new going on, and we are constantly adjusting to client’s move schedules. So my job is to make sure we don’t miss a step somewhere along the way.
What is the most challenging part of your job? The unknowns. We are always dealing with unknowns in some facet of the project. I am a control freak, and like to have all the answers, but we can’t always. I’m working on that. 😉
What are your top 3 tips for someone moving?
- Preparation is key. If the movers show up and you are unorganized and not ready for the move, everything will go downhill from there.
- Label, label, label. If you label properly, it will make the unpacking go so much smoother. The last thing you want to be doing in your new house is digging through box after box for one particular item.
- Hire trusted resources. Your mover could make or break your move. Be sure to check references and get a good referral from a trusted source. And, of course, hire us
What was the best vacation you ever took? Hands down, my honeymoon to Santorini, Greece. Most beautiful scenery and it was a super relaxing trip.
What’s your favorite coffee/food joint in the neighborhood where you’re now working? I have a thing – okay, an obsession – for queso. And Torchy’s Tacos has the best queso. They recently opened near my house, and I love to go there.
What are your hobbies? I love planning and hosting gatherings. My husband and I love to host game nights with friends. We also watch too much TV. Our DVR is out of control.
What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? I don’t know that you would consider it “unusual” or “interesting”, but the job I disliked most was a job I had my first year in college, calling on alumni to ask them to donate money to the school. I’ve never been hung up on so many times in my life.
What is one thing you couldn’t live without? A toothbrush. I can’t imagine going a day without brushing my teeth. Yuck.
What is your hidden talent? I know every word of “Ice, Ice Baby”… does that count?
What is your biggest pet peeve? I guess I would have to say chewing with your mouth open. If I can hear you chewing your food or smacking your gum, it makes my skin crawl. Literally.
